Yep. The same people come on every thread and defend their little bullets like they’re defending their children. It’s strange. I’m going to build a 25prc to shoot the new a tips, should be a sweet back country setup for my daughter, but I don’t for a second believe it’ll kill like my 300nmi...
Part of the issue with failures, whether a 22 cal or 338 cal is that the animal isn’t found. It’s more rare to recover a failure because usually it requires a follow up shot on a running animal that’s trying to get the heck out of town.
Last year I shot a big buck with a 180 eldm. I saw and...
I shoot target bullets and have for a while, so this doesn’t come from a hater… but I agree at the grasping at straws. This thread doesn’t fit the narrative currently being pushed on here.
On a side not my wife hammered a buck with “her” 7saum shooting 180 eldms. Like it always seems to do...
It wasn’t a point of shoulder shot. If it passed through, it would have hit on side shoulder and exited 4-5” behind shoulder on off side. Shot was straight up the leg.
I saw an antelope shot at 90 yards this year with a 6.5cm and 143eldx. I told my buddy when we walked up, “look at that exit”. He said, that’s the entrance! It absolutely exploded on the shoulder. This was in grasslands, nothing between the antelope and shooter. It made it into the cavity...
I assume you’re talking domestic sheep? Surprised they got trapped in there, the herders usually keep a pretty close eye on them.
Not sure why people keeping being surprised about the state of that area. I haven’t been back since the die off for a reason. But as always, CPW appreciates...
I have the 230. This is the 2nd year I’ve had it. Last year it did 11 animals. So far this year, it’s done 4 antelope, a moose, and an elk. It’s not hard to justify the cost when you compare it to having animals butchered! Zero complaints or regerts.
The 5 mil bags are tough, but will...
I just looked, most units have 5 doe tags! Good on CPW, and boy oh boy, I sure as heck wouldn’t be buying a tag in a unit that has that few doe tags. There’s your sign!
Unfortunately it doesn’t really work that way.
It’s too bad that they can’t shut the whole thing down, I see why they don’t. I think @robby denning did a podcast with a biologist and they talked about the need to keep some tags so the tags don’t go away permanently. I didn’t look at the...
I think part of the issue is there are no elk, at least compared to 2021. It’ll take time for the herd to come back. Let’s just hope CPW continues to limit female licenses.
Pelican 1750 looks like it weighs 25 pounds with foam.
With a 50 pound max, that’s my concern. 25 plus 10 pounds, plus ammo and clothes is about all you’re getting.
What is everyone using for airline travel, specifically Alaska? Skb golf club case, harbor freight Apache case, pelican 1750? Who’s removing the foam and using just clothes? Any tips or tricks?
