I'm not sure if you're serious. You realize that after recoil shooters generally reset back into the same position they were in prior to recoil? With your logic if shooting a flat comb rifle that has muzzle rise upon recoil, the shooters head would be lifted up by said muzzle rise and they...
7 PRC is bigger and will be able to be pushed faster in an 18" just like it can in a 22-24" tube.
Question is more about the platform you want to push it from and what magazine config you are using. Obviously SA is a SAUM only. With a LA I might lean more towards a PRC thinking it might feed...
Sico Scythe or Nomad XC Ti are two that stand out to me as striking a strong balance of suppression, size, weight for hunting.
TBAC ultra 7, Magnus S, LPM Mach S, CAT johnny Law are some others that i'd be happy to own.
I've had good experiences with Capitol armory for an online seller. I'd...
Agree with the two comments above.
Also, did you have a proof blank chambered by a gunsmith or are you having the throat of a proof prefit lengthened? Id assume that proofs prefits use a SAAMI spec chamber?
Are you intentionally disregarding that more recoil = more movement of the rifle before the bullet exits the muzzle? Near nobody has "proper" or at least consistent form in field situations.
Find the cheapest online tikka with the appropriate bolt face, buy and have it shipped directly to the gunsmith of choice and have said gunsmith rebarrel. That way you dont have to mess with taking the factory barrel off yourself or ensuring a prefit headspace’s correctly. Sell factory barrel...
Oddly enough I just posted pictures in your thread on the Hide of an 18" 6 Creed Benchmark #4 in a Proof Sendero contour inletted rokstock.
Also - Lots of barrel channel discussion here, where dead cats were referenced for amount of clearance one should have between barrel and stock...
The MDT polymer mags allow like 2.550" and have worked well for me in bravos. Not sure they make lower capacity ones for hunting though. Cheap, light, long COAL, plastic (quiet), so pretty solid option.
If it appeals to you, to each his own. Hopefully someone can confirm your existing stock can be hogged out to fit the featherweight contour. An entirely new micky stock and bedding it is a pretty significant price on top of the hundreds extra for a blank just to have a McGowan with some carbon...
^This. If you like the existing stock buying a whole new stock in addition to the upcharge for carbon over a steel barrel is insanity. I'd just get a steel tube close to the original contour and roll on.
I'd guess that 6 GT ammo will frequently sell for closer to $2/ea like 6 creedmoor is but would be happy if i'm wrong. 6 ARC stuff seems generally available for closer to $1/ea. That and barrel life, recoil, are big upsides for the ARC.
Would be cool if Hornady rolled out 6 BR or 6 Dasher ammo...
You're missing 223 but I'm with @Marshfly - save your money and spend it on 6 ARC ammo.
I'm not following the concern for 6 ARC adequacy for big game. It's basically the same as a 243 that is impacting 100 yards further away when it comes to terminal performance.
I haven't messed with it much beyond loading 100 rds with Leverevolution which was pleasantly fast and it shot well.
Right, wrong, or indifferent - I doubt i'll mess with h4895 and larger stick powders using the thrower for a while.
