What my point is if you hunt enough and have enough experiences, you are going to find the animals you hunt in multiple scenarios. Many elk killed at 15 yards doesn’t mean you are hunting in timber. You may have called that bull in from a half mile away. Your shot could be anywhere from 500...
Some pretty knowledgeable and experienced gun writers of a earlier time who actually hunted a lot and reloaded in quantity, championed the various 7 Magnum’s. I had a few older friends who I grew up around who had been on yearly 14 day BC hunts for stone sheep, grizzly, moose, Mtn caribou who...

Don’t know if I would be giving advice on a elk hunting rifle scope if I had only killed ONE elk. Even your name is “ elkNewbie”. Just sayin.

What conditions are you going to be using it. Winter in a wilderness days from civilization, or camping on day type excursions. Down or synthetic? Budget?
I go by my past experiences . Not by telling someone your experiences through what others tell you. Half of the bull elk I have killed have been from 10-100 yds the other half 300-500 yds. , many close to legal shooting time with low light. Sure didn’t want a fixed 10X at those short distances...
Actually the decline in 6.5CM sales started 18 months ago. Just now catching up with the uninformed. Much better elk cartridges available . The old school 300 Mags, old school 7 Mags, or if you have to have new 7 & 300 PRC.
The hype with the 6.5 CM is finally fading. The 7MAG, any of the 300 MAG’s are top choices when elk are being hunted. If you are recoil sensitive the 7MM/08 or .270 WIN are okay choices.
I went with the Wyoming after trying 4 other Crispi models and a few other brands. I found a better fit in the front of the boot and toe box. Some of the others were a little narrow. Almost have to order 4 or 5 different boots and send the rest back.
Love my Randall Made Knives Pathfinder 26 carbon steel. Holds a edge as well as any knife I have owned. Can take care of a elk and deer on the same hunt without needing to be sharpened . I basically got rid of all of my other hunting knives and use the RMK 26 Pathfinder. Every couple of years it...
Sneaky, were you ever able to comprehend that the 2ND Super Hunt Drawing Deadline for Application was AUGUST 10th?? Didn’t see where you corrected your self on your smart ass comments.

Are you guys that are having failures with Talley rings using the “steel” Talley’s?
Another thing , for me I will never take a rifle on a serious hunt without running 150-200 rounds through it. I learned this long ago when I did experience rifle failures, (not Talley steel ring failures).
Your comments show your inexperience, lack of knowledge and that you have not done much hunting out of your home state. To experience some of the best hunts in the world in some of the most remote and scenic hunting countries, hunting some of the most, challenging , desirable and fun animals to...
Many of the top tier rifle builders use Talley steel rings on their hunting rifle builds and their own personal rifles , some of which sell in the $25K range , when the customer doesn’t want or feel the need to spend $2K on the builder’s proprietary base / ring system. Many of these rifles are...
250 grain Nosler Partitions @ 2900-2950fps is the sweet spot . Hunting partner and I have used that round in two custom rifles for 25 years. Never lost a big game animal.
