    For $1,000 budget I'd suggest you look at Nightforce. In particular the SHV 4-14x56, you can get it illuminated or not. I have the SHV and it's as great as the NSX I had a few years back. Second option if you want illumination without depending on a battery, I would look at the Trijicon...

    I would also throw Alpine Archery into the mix, I have owned Alpine Assault and still have a Alpine F1 Fireball, excellent bows, great draw cycle and valley, smooth....very smooth and to top it off a great price! Have killed several elk and a bear with these bows.
