Some good advice here. Don't force it. Did some studying as a S&C coach and after the first tear, you can be more prone to a second one. Avoid that straight-up-the-hill angle and stretching your AT so close to your surgery.

Keep your long term goal in your mind, especially when the cravings are kicking.
If you have a cigarette, don't spend tons of time kicking yourself, just restart "quitting" and move on.
Be ready for other things to take the addiction's place: eating, chewing gum, etc.

I am just trying out suspenders instead of belt, just due to getting skinnier during the time in the field. As long as you don't mind them under your backpack straps, it seems to be doing fine for me.

I shoot a Tikka in -06 and I have no complaints. Good shooter, killed everything I've shot at with it. There's no wrong answer in your options. Good luck--gun shopping is a pretty good time if you let it be.
