If you are at 33# without 7 days of food water and a pad, I would guess you may be closer to 50# final wt. Than 40#. Regardless, get fit right with Aaron and would recommend building up your pack weight over time. 6mi an hour is a pretty good clip IMO. I suppose it is fine for training but I...
I like your exuberance and generally speaking, would tend to agree with you. I prefer my xlite and xtherm comfort and warmth for sure but have found my self grabbing CSP rolls more often lately for thier simplicity. They are nice to attach externally for quick access to use a sit pad...
To me, 70# is 70#, period (80 is 80 etc.). In my opinion The reason people claim that a draw cycle feels less is primarily the transitions and how long at peak weight (aka smooth draw cycle). If I was shooting a 70# at 60#, I would not order 80#....don't care how smooth it is.
If you are...
I have both and use both for different applications. Can't beat CSF for simplicity and bullet proof. After a long day in the back country, I sleep hard so plush comfort of air pad is not always necessary. Air pads are more comfortable and can't beat a neo xlite. Ultra light (12oz), super...
I love my sword sight Judge! I thought I was ready (again) for a single pin on my hunting rig...if my eyes were better to read the yardage (sucks getting old) I would have no quams. That being said, it has found a permanent home on my target bow.

The EE ratings are accurate for me. 40 quilt in 40's no problem. Pushed my twenty in the mid-to high teens with a little chill but I blame the 30* 3/4 underquilt. if you use an appropriate pad underneath, ratings are spot on in my opinion.

Should you upgrade? Only you can answer that one. I owned an Assassin - it is a tack driver and would have no problem taking it on any Hunt.... a new bow is not going to kill anything any deader. Regarding performance....if your bow is in tune with a good set of stings/accessories, a new bow...
The Eternal Down vs synthetic debate. Search function is your friend. That being said, for me down without question. The new treated Downs are much better with regard to getting wet and not being completely useless- dryguard or whatever they're called. I would agree with the above, shelter...
I have had good success with BEA and change my arrows a bit according to game I am hunting. My "elk" set up is 516 grain micro diameter deep impacts, all arounder/pig/goat/deer/3d is 411gr std. carnivore, a 390gr small diameter renegade for longer range and axis deer, and std. Dia. 322 grain...
There are a lot of good string Builders (and just as many to avoid). STRICT9 gets the nod for me...never had a peep rotate or had to re-serve and cams stay synched. Best of all, jeff will install brass speed nocks nocks. Alot of Builders cry liability with brass.... even though I have had 2...
Lucky you get to go see the dutchware headquarters. Sounds like you have it pretty well figured out.....first in line if you decide to go full length and decide to sell your 3/4 length. ;)

Can't speak for CO but idaho/oregon for archery elk bugs were a non issue. I plan to go with my Dutch 1.0 hexon, Kevlar straps, Dutch hooks for easy set up, and whoopies...seems almost a pound less than your listed if I am reading the wb website correctly....plus the hammock is only $42. For...
This....
Depending on your bow, DL, arrow length, etc, 340 spine might be stiff and the heavier head may tune better. I would suggest starting with different weighted field point to tune you bow/arrows (cheaper than broad heads)

My garbage disposal bag pump is very fast and can fully inflate in about 3 fills/"pumps". And yes, you get a lot less saliva in it.

If you are a hunter and that is your goal... Deer, elk, pig etc. Will be just as dead with a $300 bow. I can kill with my 190 fps stick and string (long bow), albeit a lot harder. Practice will always trumps equipment in my opinion.
For me, and I assume for many, a bow is more than a tool and...
I made one out of a garbage disposal bag, top of a 2 litre bottle and a garden washer. Super cheap and super light! Plus I can use the disposal bag as a ground cloth for my shoes, pack etc., or even as a dry bag.

This year I used Jimmy tarps bivy and granite mtn shelter....less than a lb. combined if u already take poles. Great set up IMO. Held up great in some wicked wind. Doesnt get much simpler set up after a long day in the back country (much easier than a flat tarp). Only took bivy to keep my...
