I tried. Didn't go over too well.
My bino harness is made by a small (1 or 2 man) company. I really like it, except for the fact the lid opens towards my chest making it hard to use 1 handed. The lid is very soft/pliable with magnets in it so it stays closed. I presented an idea to the...
Guy at Harris says they are one in the same. Buying it from Amazon, so hopefully it's not a Chinese knockoff

Does any one know the difference between the two models? Both are 9-13" bipods but the SLM is $20+ cheaper, and I can't find any info about it on the Harris website. Maybe just an old model?
I plan to call them in the morning, but don't know if they are open due the current nonsense.
The right person can make just about anything with a cheap sewing machine. A better question is are YOU able to make this with your wife's machine?
There is a lot of design, sewing time and materials that went into the one you pictured.
Give it a shot... Nothing ventured, nothing gained...
Good link for trying to ID old singers: https://www.sandman-collectibles.com/id-singer-machines.htm#40
If the motor works well and the machine's timing is good, then yes. Your pics aren't the greatest to look closely at the machine, just because the seller says its an Industrial machine...
Here's the one I made from 2 neoprene knee sleeves. One fit my vortex 85mm perfectly. The tripod adapter fit through the knee hole, and a little trimming for the focus knobs. I cut the other sleeve for the lens covers.
But how much is the stud and adapter?
I bought an off brand adapter on Amazon for $10, and the screws were less than $1 each at home depot, so for less than $15 and 1/2 hour of work I have a great mount for my son.
Also remember: this is the DIY forum, the whole idea is to make stuff, and...
Here's another great solution that I found last year. I ended up reproducing the one in the link below for my son's binos, and it worked real well. Surprisingly, he didn't lose the top screw!

I found my old sleeve, and 2 hrs later came up with the 2 caps. They're held onto the body w/ velcro and seem pretty stout.
Like most of my other projects I would have been $ ahead just buying one from the store, but there's a great feeling in creating, problem solving, and re-using things that...
Thanks for the ideas, I would have never thought about racket tape, that's slick.
As luck would have it, I stumbled across a near perfect solution today while helping my wife clean out the closet.
My wife's old neoprene knee sleeve.
It's not quite as tight as I'd like it, but fits well. The...
Has anyone made their own? If so did you use neoprene or something else?
I recently purchased a gen 1 Vortex razor spotter that only came with the big bulky bag. I love to tinker and make my own stuff, but am debating whether its just easier to drop the $50 on a commercially made sleeve vs...
