I own many pairs of binoculars. If I had to choose only one pair to keep, it would likely be my Leica 8x32's. Perfect size for most any application. Mine are 30 year old BA's and their performance has never ceased to amaze me. I'll bet these new UHD'S are even better.
I think armor replacement is often required after disassembly of binoculars. Maybe they have to tear up the armor to get it apart? Makes 'em look brand new! They must continue to manufacture armor for all the discontinued models.
The vertical split Warne rings are cumbersome to deal with, but fine if you plan to mount on one rifle and leave it there. Not for switching from gun to gun. I would stay away from the current production standard Leupold rings as well. They are not durable like the older USA models.
Both are great binoculars, but the HD's are likely the best value right now. I would only consider the older Hungary models if they were in the $200-300 range.
This is the truth of this matter. I deal in used optics and routinely handle a host of high end binoculars. I am very impressed with Razor HD's and UHD’S. About a month ago I compared a pair of UHD 8x42's against a pair of SLC 8x50's for about 20 minutes until it was nearly dark. I switched...
Agreed. As an old man with spectacles, I like the generous eye relief not always found on 32mm binos. As a fan of the UHD'S, I would expect these to be outstanding. I will be looking for some to try out.
A good pair of small binoculars will make you wonder why you always thought you needed full sized binoculars. I have Leica 8x32 BA's and Swaro 7x30 SLC's. Both are outstanding. The eye relief on the 7x30's is really long for small binoculars.
