Came across a coupla cases of 6.5x55SE Norma Professional Hunter 140 gr. Nosler Partition ammo, on liquidation ($1.35/rd. delivered).
This SE load clocks at very near 2700 fps (24" Bbl.).
Am also handloading Speer Grand Slam 140 gr. (current "Mag-Tip" production) over a full charge of H4831sc...
My question would be, "What's the point?"
A 150 gr. at 2800 fps from a .270 Winchester allows for inexpensive spitzer cup-n-core bullets to take even large game at 400 yards.

Academically, it would be a good cartridge for a new, one rifle shooter that intends to hunt medium to large game and reload.
But, in the practical, inexpensive factory ammo for adequate training goes a long way toward success in the field, and handloading down the road provides good economy...
Between the 6.5x55mm Mauser and the .270 Winchester, out to 400 yards, it brings little to the table.
And the above cartridges are loaded by PPU and are inexpensive training ammo, providing quality once-fired brass for hunting reloads.
