    Gaia is just one of the apps that allows you to download maps prehunt, hike, bike whatever. Then you have sat, topo etc, without having to worry about cell service. I know Trimble is another, but I'm happy with Gaiamaps.

    The newest iPhone update has unlocked the GPS in airplane mode. Now, I can use GAIA with minimal battery usage! It's pretty awesome for those of us using their iPhone as their GPS unit.

    Alcohol and fitness

    For fitness and financial reasons I've taken to not drinking beer on weekdays. I'll drink 8ish beers from Friday-Sunday. Beer is just calories, so if you account for them it's fine. Actually, beer is a good after run drink due to the high water content and carbs.

    I don't know all the western state regs, but, in KY you must use a .270 or larger on elk. So, no 6.5, but I'd love to have one for deer and hogs.

    Yeah, I just got to see it in person on KYFW website. Depressing as usual. I'll do it all again next year though. It's worth it to me, for a chance to hunt one of the 12000 elk in my home state. It'll happen one of these days, right???

    Turkey hunting 101

    Thanks for all the advice! I don't have any decoys, is it something I can get away with out using for now? I have a mouth and pot call, I've gotten decent at putts with the pot and yelps with the mouth call.
