I suppose if your walking all the way across that canyon to check for blood every time your sending those 1000’ yd shots then more power to ya.

Just because it died at some point in the next 2 days doesn’t mean it was a good or ethical shot. You can shoot out to 1000 yds in lot of places here in north Idaho but the elk only have to run 40 yds and their into 5 square miles of thick timber and alders. You need a blood trail, and...
3 Idaho unit 41-1 goats. Had a very memorable hunt with my dad, uncle, and friend. Cold at night and hot during the day!!

Just got done with our first antelope hunt (so I know nothing) and after dragging him a few hundred yards we noticed their hair rubs off really easily. Since they duck under fences mostly id say he probably got into a fence.

I’m from northern Idaho and drew an Antelope tag down south of Murphy in 41-1. Anyone have any input or experience in that unit? Even if you were elk/deer hunting I’d be curious to hear from you. Don’t have a lot of time to hunt so any help is appreciated. Thanks!

I got them right before our big horn hunt trip this year and they didn’t take much breaking in. Worked great on the trip and the lacing system is different but not a pain in the ass, I almost like it better than the traditional style now to be honest. I got the shorter version and am planning on...
Tried a new spot this year and had a tough time finding the bulls. Picked up 15 horns but they were anything but fresh. It was a strange winter here in northern Idaho so the elk don’t seem to be in the same “zones” that we typically see them in. Great trip though always great to get out after a...
Just got back from a 5 day backcountry horn hunt and my buddy brought O-meals which are basically a new take on MRE’s. I was pretty skeptical at first but those things will get so hot they will burn your mouth. Portions were a little small but for a one or two night trip they could be the...
Must be an elevation thing. I think the highest point on Kodiak is like 4000’? Down here You can wait it out if it’s gonna snow for a day or two during your trip but otherwise your wasting your time IME. If the weather forecast is bad, I’d move your trip ahead or back a couple days if you can...
^^^bingo. In goat country if there is rain or snow in the forecast just stay home. Not bc your a weenie but bc you won’t be able to see your hand in front of your face through the fog!

I’m with Troutbum, we almost always try to spike out whether it’s goats, elk, bear.. he’s right, for me it’s out of
Laziness but that’s kind of an oxymoron bc obviously your packing more weight and making, most likely if you kill something, another trip but to me it makes the entire experience...
Great to hear. I bought kenetrek hardscrabbles a month ago and they are way too wide for my feet and they are chewing up my heels. Having a tough time trying to sell them too... seem like great boots but just don’t fit my feet.

I saw one guy on here did a comparison with another boot but returned them, wondering if anyone has actually used them.
