The one that I have handled/shot feels as solid as anything else besides some boat anchor F-Class type stock. I wouldn't use it to drive 16d nails, but for a rough use hunting rifle I can't imagine it would be the failure point. Butt feels as solid as my Bansner and MPI stocks, foreend flexes...
Just checking in on this, I see the website is undergoing some updates (all good) but I can’t seem to find the carbon VG Model 70 on there, just curious if it’s still in the cards for it to be for sale soon?
There's a little room yet, but not much I don't think.
Also should mention I'm using Lapua brass, full length sizing each time, and the factory Winchester chamber is probably not as tight as a custom job. Could be over pressure in a different rifle.
For context as to where I'm at along the...
Got the 18.5” 7-08 back (it really turned out good btw, awesome balance with light wt. can at that barrel length) remounted scope, threaded on can and got some chrono data:
34 deg. F, Garmin Xero, 10-15 shot ave.
150 eld-x handload (6.5 StaBall) - 2722 fps
150 eld-x factory - 2645 fps
139 SST...
Picking it up Saturday. Then reloading and range time will get to compete with snowmachining, work, etc. haha. should be able to get some factory ammo velocities at least if I head to the range on Sunday
Sent link to this poll to Maven. After stepping away from it and looking again, it's obvious the LPVO options could go away.
Imagine we're trying to whittle the list down and think like Maven might... just throwing this out there for discussion/thought. A revamp of the RS2 that's FFP...
Keep eyes peeled on Stockys Stocks, they make good stuff and are coming out with two different carbon fiber stocks sometime this year I think for M77’s, there’s a sprinkling of info about it in their ‘What Rifle is Missing Stock Options?’ thread on here.
could even chime in there with a vote...
Interestingly enough, I’ve had two M77’s that shot better with a full length bedded barrel (375Ruger Alaskan) or a slight pressure bed at forend tip (260Rem FTW) after experimenting with both, bedding both, trigger polishing, mag box and front action screw binding checks, the works. Three...
In response to wanting to improve your glove game for those conditions, if you haven't settled on those yet, I've found the Showa 282-01 and 282-02 TEMRES gloves to be pretty awesome.
They're tough, waterproof, grippy, not too stiff (allows decent dexterity for a hand shoe), and resist...
Last call for changing your vote! Going to close the poll soon. Some new options may have popped up since your original vote.
I'll let this marinade for a few days, just want to see if any real solid conclusions come out of the poll considering the options that were added as a result of our...
We're kind of narrowing in on the same 'want' over here in this poll:
https://rokslide.com/forums/threads/vote-mavens-next-scope.344179/
It's characterized a few different ways just because details and preferences vary, but I think the hypothetical "RS2.2DA" option requested by Dioni A in the...
I must have been sleeping on the job, didn’t see your thumbs up there @Dobermann . Added the THLR 3-9 option to the poll. @Wyo_hntr , @4cMuley also saw your thumbs up there if that’s your pick can change it up.
In spirit of that being added, maybe get a bunch of votes to switch? Im biased...
I’m thinking I let this sit until the end of the month, then start sending it to Maven… will be interesting to see how many voters we get and if the votes show a solid consensus by then, even though the options don't check every box for everybody.
At a minimum this exercise has given me a sense...
Agree with you here for sure, fixed six with short range parallax adjustment is very nice on a precise rimfire, definitely a more versatile scope than some give it credit for.
Haha copy that. I guess consider me the next sucker in line to beat his head against the wall to give it a try.
I'm persistent on this topic, willing to see where it goes anyways.
Just wish I could drop a few of the initial options off of the poll now that I'm seeing the direction most...
Copy that, thanks for the context and preference details.
TBH, the reason for the 6x and 3-9 on the list is basically to mimic those two SWFA proven designs, but only because I hope for a time where something like them can be bought more than 1 or 2 brief windows of time each year, at similar...
So far, it seems to me like the gist here is if the RS1.2 lost about a half pound+ by scaling down on top end magnification to 10-12x, 4x’s mag range, and by reducing the objective lense size a bit, dropped the illumination and fixed the parallax at 100-150 yards, we‘d be striking some kind of...
