How many of you guys are just sitting your hunt?

Did you look up the definition of pursue? Spending money, E-scouting, driving hundreds or thousands of miles is not hunting. Once your start pursuing you have begun hunting. Hunting = pursuing in a literal sense. That’s all I’m saying, what you should call it when you take a stroll to your...

How many of you guys are just sitting your hunt?

Yeah, this is just a fundamental difference in opinion, WHICH IS OKAY LOL, we don't have to agree. I end up doing what sounds like a similar mix of sitting for 30-60 minutes and then moving then sitting then moving and having a combination of the two. Also to say "Fair Chase" is "True Hunting"...

How many preference points should you bank up for Colorado Archery Elk Primary Draw?

Don't you think that at the very least us residents will get 5 years of OTC with NON-res draw only archery until we hit the 5 year point when the structure changes?

How many preference points should you bank up for Colorado Archery Elk Primary Draw?

OTC Archery should hopefully be changing for the better for Residents, at least until the next change in structure, when I would guess it goes to draw only, which will really kill archery hunting for the majority of archery hunters. Most people aren't going to tune, and shoot and practice all...

How many of you guys are just sitting your hunt?

Someone's feelings got hurt, not trying to hurt feelings or call anyone out, but this is not a debate, there is a simple definition, and although like i said that it can be successful in killing animals, this is fundamentally NOT hunting lol.

How many of you guys are just sitting your hunt?

I tend to fully agree with you, this is hoping and wishing at best, even if animals are known to be in the area. Thats not to say people don't kill animals this way, but its not hunting in the true sense of the word.

How many of you guys are just sitting your hunt?

This can be a real challenge to the antsy. I have a real tough time sitting for long amounts of time. I have read that cold calling can work, but that is one thing I struggle with, if I did not hear them before first light, or glass them up after first light and don't know where they are I often...

    First elk hunt

Hike high sleep low if you're not used to altitude is what they say. Meaning its alright to hike high during the day but sleep low at night to limit the impacts of altitude sickness

    Elk habitat to hunt

Man, I have never hunted elk anywhere else besides Colorado, but I am finding that to be totally true with the calling shutting down big time after first light and then not starting up again until after dark... I think they are eating the grasses, if you notice when walking around in dark timber...

Does shelter type impact how you hunt?

It also seems to me like more and more once the elk get pressured that they get pushed into the fringe areas where there is little pressure because they aren't areas people "would think hold elk" in which case, why backpack in miles and miles when you can accomplish better odds of encountering...

Does shelter type impact how you hunt?

Yeah, you have to match to whatever your strategy/style will be for the hunt at hand. Absolutely.

Does shelter type impact how you hunt?

Agreed, I am a bit of a gear-head as well. I have a katabatic bug bivy, but have yet to carry it, in which case, I am quite less than at least my lightest 1 or two man tent option. Thanks!

Does shelter type impact how you hunt?

Curious, just to compare notes basically. Where do you live? Is it rainy/stormy? Do you carry this lightweight setup and spike camp or do you carry camp daily? I just can’t see the point if it’s not packed up and carried daily I guess but curious! Thanks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Does shelter type impact how you hunt?

Hyperlite Tarp with a set of Big Agnes ‘Tarp Poles’… went with the 8’ x 10’ tarp so that I can fit in all my gear as well to keep it covered. I have gone down the rabbit hole of cutting weight and dyneema stuff sacks and going very minimalistic but the more I hunt, at least elk, the more I...

New Solo Bowhunter.. Idaho Elk help please

Sorry not meaning to state the obvious or seem like a dingus. Grew up overseas, started hunting after moving to NW Colorado 10 years ago. Never even heard of an elk I don't' think before I moved to CO. Curious how you deal with it up there and if you've had encounters?
