The shot range will depend a lot on exactly where you are hunting. However, if you are accurate out to 400 yards with your current setup, I think you will be fine.
As far as the bullets you mentioned, I am a big fan of the Accubond!
Your Dad sounds like a cool guy! I am personally a .30-caliber guy. 308, 30-06, 300 WM, 300 WSM. Also, I use a 338 on occasion.
Your .257 Weatherby with a good bullet should be fine for Mule Deer. Especially if it's the rifle you shoot the best. In my opinion, bullet placement is more...
Welcome to the forum.
Two unwritten rules you may need to be aware of are: 1st, small calibers are king here; for example, the 6.5 Manbun is big enough for elephants. Secondly, don't ever say anything negative about a Tikka rifle because most here think it's the most outstanding rifle ever...
Can you tell me more about the transfer switch and what all is involved with the installation? If I understand your post above, with a transfer switch, you can run the house off a standard generator. If so in your opinion what size generator would an average size house need to operate?
Wow, do you guys remember living in America? This place looks the same, but yet everything has changed. I can't believe how quickly things are changing for the worse. Okay, rant over.
Probably either a Glock or Sig in the caliber of your choice. I would say 9mm, 40 SW, or 10mm. I also really like a Kimber 1911 in .45 ACP, 9mm, or 10mm.
But why settle for just one…🤷🏼♂️🤷🏼♂️
I had one semi-charge me in the Idaho backcountry about 15 years ago. He certainly was not intimidated by my presence. However, that encounter was an anomaly in my experience.
Yes, you can leave the screw-in safety on fire. It doesn't reset by itself. When I hunted with a Knight, I only used the screw-in safe when pulling it up and letting it down out of a tree.
IMHO, the 338 RCM is a woefully undervalued cartridge. If you reload like I do, it makes a great do-all rifle. It shoots flat, hits hard, and the recoil is not bad at all. It's also extremely accurate, and it does all of this out of a short barrel.
Dryshod is far and away my favorite rubber boot. If you don't want to go the rubber boot route, used or a deal sight as has been mentioned is probably your best bet.
