I thought I was familiar with most large rifle calibers.
The other day in our local gun shop they were talking about a .338 RSM.
That round is not familiar to me.
On the Internet there is some info.
Are any of you using this caliber?
I'm intrigued about it.
This might be good for large game hunting.
Thanks for the info.

IMHO, the 338 RCM is a woefully undervalued cartridge. If you reload like I do, it makes a great do-all rifle. It shoots flat, hits hard, and the recoil is not bad at all. It's also extremely accurate, and it does all of this out of a short barrel.

One of the guys was talking 300 Win Magnum and the 300 WSM.
He said going from a .338 regular length magnum, to the 338 RCM was a similar change.

It's kinda like that.

The 338rcm is ballisticslly equivalent to the 338-06. The 338wm has more gas. The 300wm is just a bit more than the 300wsm which is more than the -06.

Like any short mag, if you put it on a medium or long action seat bullets long, have a custom barrel with a custom throat they can really shine. But 338rcm brass isn't available and likely never will be again. So unless you're set up to turn 375 ruger brass into 338 rcm brass, it'd be a tough one to own these days.
