Chronograph velocity 175fps slower than box

Don't worry about the Chrono if you aren't reloading. Zero at 100 and get to a distance 3-400 yards away if you can. shoot a group and measure the drop. True your calculator with the drop info and it will tell you how fast you are going. I thought a chrono would be the easy button for...

    VX3HD or something else?

I was given the Leupold VX3 4.5x14x40 Windplex reticle. Dont care for the mag range or the reticle. I did test it with a target that checks dialing with the scope and it was dead on. I didnt drop it or smack with a hammer, but I felt good about what I saw when I tested. That being said, I...

How do you carry your bow?

First trip to Montana, I used the Cabelas bow sling. Not only did it stink up my basement with the smell of rubber, it also dropped my bow to go careening 50 ft down a slope as we hiked out on a unsuccessful first afternoon. So lucky the bow sustained no damage or even really scratches...

    Drone Etiquette

We just took delivery of a Alta X with Reigl Lidar that will also be used as a truck based mobile mapper. Next level up from the DJIs we had before. I've never seen anything like what you've got.

As a surveyor I approve of this message. As with many other things, humans can get something cool and then F it all up for everyone involved.

    Montana Castle Mountains

I saw deer in all the public areas we hunted from around White Sulphur Springs to west of Helena. No trophies spotted but definitely shouldn’t come home empty handed.

    Montana Castle Mountains

Was pretty crowded during archery in that area (Little Belts) a few years ago. Rifle season won't make it better. There are herds around White Sulphur that come down for rifle season if you are into sitting on the side of the road and waiting for them to cross. There are some good areas...

    "New" bow choices

I'm shallow in that I like how the Mathews look better. Maybe if my favorite YT stars were using a bow from 2017 I would like it better. All of the Mathews are around the same speed as my PSE. I got 240FPS with a 500gr arrow at 60lbs and 27" draw from my PSE which isn't bad. The Mathews...

    "New" bow choices

Buddy has a Halon 32 which seems top heavy also but shoots well. Was hoping one of the choices I listed was just a lighter version of it honestly. The switch weight stuff seems convenient also. I will probably run the new bow at 50 for a bit just to get used to it so draw isn't a huge concern.

    "New" bow choices

I currently run a PSE Evolve 31. Held a V3 27 and was really impressed by how it balanced for a small bow. Never shot one though. I am looking to buy a used Mathews from the last couple of years. I'm interested in the Traverse, VXR 31.5, and a V3 31. How will the draw cycles compare to...

    Drone Etiquette

FYI-shooting down a drone has the same legal standing as shooting down a Cessna so tread carefully. Not saying it would be prosecuted that way, but the capability to go away for a long time is there. I am a FAA licensed Remote Pilot. Doesn't mean what's happening wouldn't make me mad too!

My innocent mind seeking a good deal on Tikka was not happy with what it saw. Very decent April Fools gag

    UltraMount press mount-edit-wrong product name

Working at making a better stiffer reloading bench. Have a harbor freight wooden workbench that my press is mounted to a piece of 3/4 plywood, then clamped to the bench. I can see some rocking in the press when I use it. I have screwed some big screws into critical junctions to stiffen and...

    A 9mm PCC for home defense ?!?!?

If you want a 9mm, go CZ Scorpion. I built a AR-9 and its fun, but I'm over it at this point. You will sustain hearing damage without a suppressor on any gun shot indoors. AR-9 can be finicky and has more recoil than my 5.56 AR due to the blowback design needing a heavier buffer. After some...

    College Wrestling fans?

I look back at the guys who I wrestled with who were the strongest best athletes I've ever been around. Some went to D1 programs, but I don't think any even became all Americans. The level of skill and athleticism is to be truly admired.

Money advice for a 19 year old

Buy used gear and rifles. Most people just want to look at the stuff and not use it to pieces. Its easier to get high level gear at reasonable prices. I haven't bought anything used that actually looked used. Temper your expectations on what you need until you have increased your income to...

    College Wrestling fans?

Insta and flowrestling have got me back into it after coming across it on ESPN a couple of years ago. I grew up wrestling during the Lincoln Mcilravy years at Iowa. These kids are so good.
