    1 month training

I increase weight to 70lbs around now for shorter hikes (2-3miles) a few times a week. For the last few weeks i have been running 2.5 miles followed by 2.5 mile 40lbs ruck every day (all hills). I think the heavy ruck helps the mental game the most, it’s not fun!

Hit List Bucks Trail Cam Pic Thread

Not a trail cam pic, but this deer will be 4 this fall and won’t be passed up. Hoping he suprises me and breaks 140” this year.

Is this tree suitable for a hang on stand? How would you hunt this spot?

what wind(s) do you plan to hunt this stand? Generally for my area an east wind is rare and not consistent. So those trees would get me busted 90% of the time and I would be looking further east. Looks to be a great funnel!

    Silencerco Scythe TI review

Works great on mine don’t notice a difference between my gas vs bolt guns in 224 (shooters perspective).

    First Lite new whitetail system

Wind proofing is huge and that’s what the original first lite lacked.

    First Lite new whitetail system

I hate wearing bibs, but when temps hit 20s/30s they are much better than layering pants. For your temps I wouldn’t be messing with them either. Hoping the new bibs are better than Sitka, but I’ll wait for the reviews before buying more first lite whitetail stuff.

    Let’s talk Broadheads!

If I had to use one BH all year it would be the standard slick trick or similar head. Great all around performance and affordable. But I honestly don’t have a “go to” and use different heads for different hunts. I prefer a two blade for elk - Strickland/magnus/ironwill all perform the same...

How do you carry bow elk hunting CO? Bow Hitch worth it?

Setting up your bow to carry it on shoulders/around neck is what I found works best (longer stabilizer/sight housing). Completely hands free and I never have to set my bow on the ground. Allows me to hike/drive atv/climb tree stand/cross fences and not have to worry about it. Bow is easily...

    Colorado second season boot insulation

400g is good middle of the road. I use 800g with hot hands and can stay comfortable until it gets close to or below 0. I have used the artic shield covers, they work but I hate using them in the tree stand due to noise.

    Colorado second season boot insulation

I would never recommend having only non-insulated for 2nd season, that is just bad advice since the temps can vary so much.

    .223, 22-250, .243 for Yotes

250/243 have an obvious advantage over 223. Vmax and 223 can produce a lot of runners with poor shots or what appears to be a good shot, but maybe only got one lung. The other two can still produce runners, but still have a clear advantage. .223 runners usually hump up and take off running...

Merino or Synthetic for archery elk.

Great question and for me it entirely comes down to temps. I prefer to have on a merino shirt under, with light synthetic LS and a heavier synthetic hoody 99% of the days. If it’s warmer (low around 50) I can do all synthetic. My last two September hunts have been warm. Didn’t matter what I...

    huxwex flow ti can

Anyone else use the Scythe ti on a bunch of gas guns yet? I have on one so far and it was great (no excess gas or sound in your face). Was considering a flow through until I tried this one.

    Bow Hunting Turkeys

Below is the strategy I use every year to kill turkeys with my bow. Never shot one out of a blind and hate sitting in them. It can be challenging because you need a “good spot” to set up vs. locate one and just sit on the ground with your back to any tree with a shotgun. -sit on stool/3 leg...

    Pressure signs with suppressor

I have experienced this with one specific factory ammo and working up reloads (hard lift/swipe) for one gun. I never took it in, but my gun smith suspected a tight/dirty chamber for this specific gun (chamber looks clean).

Need Help - VA5 to Arca Issue

Have you pulled the knob out that locks the plate in place and unscrewed it some (not just 1 turn)? It should have a lot of adjustment to fit various plates.
