    There are deer in every general unit. As other have mentioned use resources that are available online to help narrow your search. On thing I love about mule deer is that they live in a variety of habitat. Go hunt the type of country you enjoy and give it your best effort.

    Looks like a good starting point to me. From my experience chasing bucks in the high Sierra they can be much higher than you think. I have seen them in the rocky goat country. Look for areas with lots of willows and that will be thier primary food source. Good luck

    To add to what others have said, I like to put the meat in my sleeping bag during the day after cooling in a breezy area at night.

    My Pop’s hunted it in 2018 and had the same experience as others have mentioned... a tough hunt and not a lot of deer seen. He ended up getting a mature buck in a neighboring unit. Since it’s a general tag I wouldn’t get too set on one particular unit. Good luck!

    I spent 3 season on a IHC and 5 total in wild land. The summers with the hotshots were some of the best times of my life. The sound of multiple saws running still gets me going. The only down side was fire season impacted my hunting season, But in many ways it made me a better hunter.

    Hey everyone, I am a born and raised hunter from California. I love backpack hunting for blacktails and muleys. Been lurking this site for a while and this seems like a good crowd of hunters that share good info.
