Sorry about that guess I should have added a :) It is all good, pretty sure most of us realize we spend way too much on gear, and could get by with a lot less and I am sure most of us did get by with a lot less years ago and had just as good of time out hunting as we do now. I will say this, I...
Just want to say thanks for starting this thread jerk! Now I am sitting here all depressed about the amount of money I have spent on gear over the years. Good thing my wife does not read hunting forums or she would have proof that I spend a lot of money. This is a list of the gear I take...
Wight is a huge issue, I like to stay warm and dry so food gets cut. I need to tweak my packing list when I get home and see what I can get rid of to add some more food. When weight is not an issue jerky and peperoni sticks are always brought along as well as some cheddar to go with the sticks.
This is what I bring along when I am packing everything on my back on 4-10 day hunts. If I was hunting for a shorter amount of time I would bring heavier food that did more for me.
Breakfast: Two packs instant oatmeal and a cup of cocoa or cider
Lunch: Ramen
Dinner: Mt house and a cup of...
Like Becca and Luke I have been using the Alaska Guide Creations bino pouch for years now and love it. Prior to that I tried the Crooked Horn harness and am not sure who invented that piece of junk but it drove me nuts on the two hunts I tried it on.
Ok everyone here is the low down on Quick Clot.
Quick Clot is produced by ZMedica. They currently produce 8 different bleeding control agents that are all called Quick Clot. They no longer produce the granular powder that you used to pour into wounds due to it causing burns and it being a pain...
I have tried a variety of gloves over the years and never found one that worked in the rain and sleet/snow. Plenty of great waterproof gloves that work in the winter but they just can't hang in there when it starts to rain.
I hope that new waist belt takes care of your issues and you have a great hunting season!
How many of you guys use packs that utilize the MOLLE frame like this? I have been forced to use that in the Army for the past 6 years and off and on prior to that. Never could stand it, give me a good...
Becca,
The only things I would change are the quick clot for the new combat gauze and I would add a z-pak on the longer trips, great broad spectrum antibiotic that covers plenty of bugs you can pick up that will make a long trip suck.
