25 center fire off season. 4 or 5 during hunting season per month. Most off season is 22k hornet and 220 swift.
Do shoot a ton of rimfire. Cheap and fun to shoot.
Have had a Sako Finbear for over 30 years. Solidly built rifle perhaps a bit heavy for the mountains. I never liked the stock had a custome Bell and Carson stock made by a rouge B&C employee. Stock is very nice. I also have never cared for the safety, preferring a tang safety such as Browning or...
Nice write up. But your set up sure seems complicated. Me I just set up a bypod. Range distance to what ever then I hold about where it's needed and pull trigger. Course I shoot all year. Enjoyed the story tho and learned somthing.
Enjoyed the story. Unfortunate many would not get the same enjoyment without a kill. I love watching bucks in velvet during the summer when everything is calm.
I can't think of a single reason to have only one gun. Bottom line is I love guns and shooting.
I love to hunt and do so more than most. Big game or small I hunt it all. I shoot all year and real barrel regularly. Jmo
I would be sure to shoot the cartridge before you buy. Personally I think the 300 mags are to much for whitetail. Sure you can brake them down but they are not ideal.
Mid 30 cal like the 30 06 will meet your needs both East and West. I've shot a ton of white tail in the East and Muledeer...
I have a Sako Finnbear in 7mm mag. Awesome rifle and is still sub moa after 30 plus years.
Never to thrilled with Tika. Good rifle I hear but did not handle well for me.
So many good rifles out there that customize well. Currently shoot an A bolt with Lilga barrel. A real Lazer.
Ti.e may be...
I have puzzled about this subject the past couple years. I got skunked a couple times but still had fun. The worst was when I owned my own bussiness. Very little time to hunt.
This year ten shots ten kills one Turkey nine deer. My other hobby is working on guns. I am not happy unless my guns...
Has anyone seen new products on the shelf? I read a lot of hype about what the company is going to do but nothing in stores
My understanding was that product would be on the shelf by October. Nor reading anything about delays
Bought a yardman about twenty years back. Worked great for first 18 then motor went out. Replaced with a Honda motor with easy start which works great. Then that pesky rubber coupling went bad. Was able to replace that and no problems since. I do suggest frequent oil changes. I also switch out...
Winchester 94, never could hit anything with it. Bought Sako 7mm mag for next 25 years. Killed many deer. Then Abolt 30 06 in which I wore out the barrel. Rebarreled and have 7 shots, 7 kills this season after zeroing.
Never had much of an issue chewing on TSS. Most travels through and I am carefull to shoot for the head. Lead on the other hand always seems to stick around.
Sure you can kill game in hot weather. But it'smuch more fun when cold. Plus it's a pain getting an animal gutted, skined and in the cooler. Had one spoil on me twenty minutes from the house. Like beer I like mine frosty.
I hunt va and occasionally WV. You do have to work to find private property. But then ther is tons of public. George and Jefferson national forests for example. I still have not explored half of it in 40 years of hunting. Plus I seldom encounter other hunters except close to major towns where I...
I have killed several deer at 230 yards with my encore and BH209. All were complete broadside pass through. Deer seldom traveled 20 yards.
BH 209 is just awesome. Simply cannot understand why someone would not buy the best. One can should last 2 years.
