We finally have had some CWD cases in our immediate neighborhood - it's been coming. So I guess we'll start testing kills.
I did have an old family friend (well...early 50's - not that old) die of CJD a few years ago. Not from a hunting family, so less likely to be a connection.
Horrible way...
Thanks for the additional info.
You'll have to make decisions about where to give, as the canoe you need is going to be a unicorn. If budget were no object, I'd say a heavier Kevlar layup prospector or similar downriver hull...but perhaps something in a lighter material like Tuf-weave or...
I currently own 6 canoes - extended wilderness tripping is part of my/our lives, and I was paddling yesterday.
First: Tandem or Solo?
Second: How big/strong are you? Loading a 75# canoe is wildly different than a 40# canoe for most mere mortals.

As pointed out, a DUI can be a real issue.
Foods - nothing fresh, just packaged foods, & you should be OK.
A couple years ago we were in line to cross into Canada...a single line, maybe a dozen vehicles. Two in front of us was a pickup hauling a fishing boat. Those guys thought that they...

But those times where I need two hands and don't want to put the bow down...nice for that.
Another "raw diet" question for those more knowledgeable: How about fish & fish bones?
I do lengthy remote wilderness canoe trips and Walleye, Pike, Lake Trout and Smallmouth are on the menu regularly. I've fed her cooked fish, but am curious about raw fish and about the bones - both cooked...
I wear attacks every day around the house/office during the cooler months. Very comfy. They also are great for me for cold weather pheasant hunting. The Kutanas are lighter and tougher, and are my early-season archery (Pronghorn & WT) pant. If I could only have one, it would be the Kutanas.
Reporting back....
Feeding my dog whole, raw pheasant legs has been a huge problem.
She now won't eat her kibble and wants nothing but raw pheasant legs. :-)
I just went through this - took a while, but a hail storm from a couple years ago (some fist-sized hail) dented enough shingles and gutters that the insurance company agreed to replace, less my eye-watering deductible. Still, $45K new roof (old one was 20 years old) for the price of the...
