7 PRC for costal brown bears?

All the areas I found sheep they weren’t legal to hunt that’s why they were there🤣

7 PRC for costal brown bears?

Use a nosler partition or hornandy gmx whichever your rifle likes better and go kill everything Alaska has to offer. While you might get a long shot at one 1.5-2x min power on your scope is more important than 18-20x on the top end. I ran around for three years up there with a 7mag 160gr...

6.5 PRC vs 6.5 CM? I currently use a 7 PRC, but looking for a lighter weight, lighter recoiling rifle dedicated for deer hunting.

6.5 creed with 129gr interlock or any number of of other 120-130gr bullets will be plenty for deer at your intended range. Hold on the shoulder and drop them without being too destructive, the 123gr sst is my favorite bullet for the creed. Dad’s creed has an 18” barrel it’s super handy in/out...

“Meaningful” differences 6.5 cm be 308?

Whichever you can find ammo or reloading components for more often or locally. The 6.5 will have a touch better sd, slightly less wind drift, slightly less recoil but for inside 400yd it won’t really matter. 308win has been around forever and isn’t going anywhere, it’s a boring round not...

Suggestions for next piece of gear

Do you want to spend time and ammo practicing at 50yd increments out to max hunting range or pay for software that makes it more convenient? I’d buy the can, some ammo and go practice. Much rather take a day to actually verify drop/drift and smack steel out to max hunting range using a phone app...

Looking for input on ELD-X bullet performance (w/ field pics)

143eldx 6.5PRC, 60ish yards pinky entrance golfball sized exit this is what I expect if I don’t hit the shoulder. If I hit shoulder blade they’ve been drt out to 400yds, lungs are jello usually pour out. They behave just like Hornady SST for me so far.

    2023 Whitetail Meat Pole

15” T/C encore pistol in 243win, only small bucks so far. Two opening morning and a third one earlier this week, we play “If she blows she goes” here. The first two weren’t blowing but the inner predator came out after they bedded in front of me for 2hrs.

6.5 prc ammo/bullet for whitetail and occasional elk

I’ve had good luck with the 143eldx, they preform like the SST bullets. Put one through the shoulders and they’ve been drt, 50-350yds haven’t had a long shot to test them yet but expect the same result.

Researching - Best ~$1k Action for First Build

I have a short action Bat Igniter and absolutely love it, build quality, fit/finish and “slickness” are impressive. There are higher dollar actions out there I can’t imagine them being any slicker than the igniter. There’s no comparison to my Christensen which is a nice rifle it just feels...

    New Rifle advice

3 years in Alaska the most common rifle I saw was 30-06, load heavy for big game and light for deer, bou, blackies no need for more. I’d much rather track a critter double lunged with a with a 223 than one gut shot with a 300. You’re better off getting another 6.5 or 308 parent case maybe 30-06 a...

    .243vs22-250

If you’ve got a can chop the 22-250 to 16”, I love the handiness of short barrels even when suppressed they handle and shoot great. If you have the twist try the 75-80gr v-max or eldm bullets it’ll make a believer of you. If you switch to 6mm go creed and sling 108eldm they’ll crush a yote way...

    Deer Vitals Measurements?

When you can’t keep them in a paper plate at a given range that’s where you call it. If your 10/10 in that plate you’ll be fine.
