Agree on both points. The 7wsm seems like a great round that should be more popular.
The 6.5 x 284 is an all time cool cartridge. The history, the rebated rim, 35 degree shoulder, etc just make it so unique. And makes me wish the 284 win was supported in a modern package.
Yep that's a great round too. But it's not one the the average shooter can take advantage of since it requires handloading. I am wondering why Hornady / Federal / Winchester hasn't felt the need to provide something off the shelf.
In this day and age of "new" cartridges being introduced all the time, I am surprised that we haven't seen a modern, short action, magnum bolt face 7mm. I'm thinking about something that has an COAL of 2.995" and is optimized for 150 - 170 grain bullets. The 6.8 Western is obviously pretty...
I noticed that you can now buy the 11" Sig Cross Trax handguard. I assume it's lighter than the original but I don't know if it will fit on a standard Cross. Has anyone tried this?
Euro optic is now listing barrels for the PH3 that can be purchased separately from the rifle (out of stock of course).
Hopefully an indication that we will be able to swap between calibers soon. I did not notice bolt heads or mags listed though.
I totally agree.
The one thing that will be a disappointment is if Seekins doesn't make it easy to buy bolt heads, magazines and their barrels for simple cartridge swaps.
I got a 6.5 PRC. I already have a sig cross with 6.5cm and 6mm cm barrels. My goal with this rifle is short action magnum cartridges. Surely someone will come out with a modern, magnum bolt face, short action 7mm soon. Something like what the .284 Win was supposed to be.
I really like the option...
Yeah good point. My thinking is that eventually the hunter chassis will be available as a stand alone part and that will be an option to bring weight down
I too ordered the PH3 euro optic. My hope is the weight ends up at just over 7lbs (current PH2 is 6.9 in short action). Add 8oz for the chassis and cheek piece, subtract a few ounces going from a 24" barrel to 20" barrel.
If you were to buy the PH3 in say 6.5 creed and then wanted to switch to a 6.5 PRC, I get the barrel change and bolt head change, but what about magazines? The PH2 uses a proprietary magazine for the PRC and standard pmags for the creedmoor.
