ZeroTech TRACE ADV 3-18×44 FFP Shoot2Hunt

I thought a 2-8 would be an all new build. But doing something like a 2-12 would use same or similar erector and wouldn’t take near as long to get going

I don't disagree, but I'm just thinking about the 2.5-15 in the maven, or the estimated weight of the 3-18 ZT, and I don't know how you shave a bunch of weight with the same 6x erector.

I have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm just curious.

Shaving the weight without losing function/reliability is the big question. The vx6 2-12 is just under 17oz., which means only 3 ounces to gain FFP, function, and reliability. Tall order I think.

Look at other 2-12 and 3-18 in same line. Many are 5-6oz lighter.

But if the erector is the same, and the turrets are the same, where does the 6 ounces come from?

Also, I still don't understand the functional difference between a 3 on the low end and a 2, but you give up 6x on top.

I guess I still don't understand the draw to a 2-12, other than making it lighter, but why not make the 3-18 lighter if all else is equal? Do you drop to a 40mm objective with the lower zoom range?
