I've got the light sheet and clips assembly thingies in my cart right now. I use a 12* down quilt down to 0* with just base layers and am very comfortable. I tend to not get cold - usually I overheat and over sweat at night.
My question for the brain trust:
Is the 10* sheet worth the extra $25 or so? I, however, sleep like what my wife refers to as "a rotisserie chicken on a spit" at night flopping from bad shoulder to other bad shoulder every few minutes. I'm thinking that the sheet keeping my pillow in place, and my pad under me is going to a worthwhile investment as that is what wakes me up the most often when sleeping outdoors. Just can't decide on the insulation value of the sheet as it pertains to sleep quality since I rarely wake up because my shoulder/neck/head is cold, but I nearly always wake up a half dozen times a night because either my pillow or pad has left the cot from me rolling around.
I have been too heavily invested in my existing collection of sleeping pads and quilts/bags to jump into the full priced Zen system but with the use-your-own-quilt-and-pad-setup I am interested.
@nine_banger - their color selection leaves a lot to be desired. I have taken to buying all of my gear in either earth tones or blaze orange. My quilt, for instance, is reversible with blaze on one side to act as the world's largest VS-17 panel if I ever need it but OD green on the other side for "normal" usage and as a glassing blanket. Plus earth tones don't show dirt nearly as badly as stuff like baby blue lol.
