Zebralight question

Has anybody used their new zebralights this year and have any feedback?

I spent 10 days in SW Colorado with a lot of down timber this past fall. After dark when I'm heading back to camp, or even a trail, it would be very helpful to have some solid light so I can plan/see my way back better. I had a 100 Lumen beam but found I would like more.


I'm looking at the H502 and the 600. Downfall of the 600 is of course buying the special battery.

1. Anybody know how many recharges I can expect from one of those batteries? If you had one battery for the 600 would you feel comfortable with that on a 5 day hunt?

2. Any feedback on the H502? Do you feel like you are flying through the AA batteries?

Not sure how I missed this. Slim9300 is the zebra expert. I have had mine for over a year and 2 seasons of use. I have both the 600 & 502. They both have strengths and the battery life is great for my uses.

The 600 I can get an easy 10day hunt out of but I also only use it when I need to. I do carry a spare batt for it but haven't had to use it. I think they came out with a new model, mine only puts out 700ish lumens and the new one is around 1000 if I remember correctly. I can easily see out 100 yards with the spot and the flood lights up out to around 50.

The 502 gets the all around use and sips the batt, change it out about every three days but when you consider it takes 1 AA compared to most other 200 lumen headlamps that take 4 AA's and that it weighs nothing it is a great all around light. I bring 4 extra batts to use for this and my GPS, I hardly use my GPS so I always come back with an unused batt or 2.

Both lights are waterproof and very durable. Taking both weighs the same as my black diamond icon did. I don't think you would be disappointed but I would start out with the 502 and add the 600 for those times you really need bright light.

Also battery time may vary since we don't all use headlamps the same way. I highly recommend unscrewing the battery cover half a turn, they have a tendency to turn on when packed.

I have a Zebralight 80 (AA or 123 batt) been my edc for years, my son calls it the Super flashlight. I'd like to get the 602 headlamp for times i need a really bright light. Dotman- can you tell me more about the 600? Which version, warm, cool, neutral, etc. What charger do you use? Batteries, brand , protected vs unprotected ?

I highly recommend unscrewing the battery cover half a turn, they have a tendency to turn on when packed.

The charger I use is the XTAR WP2 II charger, I bought it for around $20 on amazon. I use the Zebralight inhouse big batt for the 600, it is 3100mah. I believe mine is the warm H600w and I like the color it puts out, more like a daylight type color. For the H502w I have i just use Lithium AA nonrechargeable batts.

I have a 502D if you are interested in it. It's been turned on for maybe 30 seconds is all. $60 TYD. I just can't seem to like a flood light.

Learned the same lesson with my new zebralight this year. New battery before the trip. Get to where I need it and click, nothing. You could even go to the extent of putting a small piece of paper between the contact and battery .

I just flip my battery around. Have you guys noticed that the little light that flashes every couple minutes...and can that be disabled? I don't know if that drained the battery or if it accidentally got turned on. Now I always turn the battery around when I'm not using it.

If you back the battery cap off a turn or so then the light cant accidentally turn on. I have an H600 from when it was first released. I love it, however just recently it began acting up on me. Its lost/changed its modes, it still turns on but all I can adjust it to is some thing bright and then slightly less bright. None of the regular modes are working anymore.

So I emailed Zebra and they told me to send it in along with 15 dollars and my original receipt so they could take a look at it. I haven't gotten around to sending it off yet though. Ive been considering buying another one just so I have something to use while this one is off.

As for the 18650 battery I wouldn't let it bother you. Ive fully commited to this battery configuration and almost all my lights run off of it now. It will really open up a lot of choices for you once you get into it. Like stated above, you will probably be just fine using a single battery on a 5 day trip but I still always bring two.
Also its worth it to buy a quality batteries, even if its not the highest mAh rating, many of the cheap Chinese batteries are completely unreliable junk. Look at Eagletac, Panasonic, or AW for a quality battery and something between 2600-3100mAh

I love the zebra lights. They have a tremendous amount of usable light and seem to be built like a tank. The only issue is that they turn on and off easily so I have to flip the battery around So the light does not accidentally come on in my pack, which has happened to me several times.
