So in my search I'm down to considering these two boots. I know they are both quality boots and fit is what is most important but just for the spirit of conversation I want to hear your opinions on these two boots. I have tried on the lowa caminos and zamberlan civettas. Both were very nice but just not quite there yet. I liked different things about each boots. And I know there not the same but I'm just telling you what I've had my hands on so far. I will be backpacking, scouting, hunting/hiking in the earliy to mid seasons and want a nice stiff boot with no insulation and in the 7-9inch range. I was very close to picking the lowa caminos but wanted to try the above mentioned boots first. I have some lowa zyphers for early season hiking and short day walks while scout that I picked up on clearance. They are nice but not backpacking boots that I am looking for. Thanks for any info.

I just ordered the Zamberlans as they are supposed to fit my short boxy foot better according to Lathrop & Sons. The other main option was the Tibet and I was also considering the Hanwags. Ill let you know when I get them and start playing in them.

I have owned both of these boots and the 960 did not work for me. When kneeling the lace points pinched the top of my feet really bad, even walking up steep inclines it would get unbearable. That's just me though boots are a very personal piece of gear, one boot may work great for me and not the next guy.

I now have the Lowa Tibets and love them. No problems at all to report.

Call Stephen at Lathrop and Sons he will get you on the right track with any questions you have.

I tried both of these in and the Zamberlan Guide 960's fit my foot much better.

No pinch issues for me.

Added 90% merino wool Superfeet for temp regulation and added stability. These are the best boots I have worn till date and look forward to using them all season long.

The Vibram soles have great traction and are soft so you can get a good feel for what's underfoot.

Just my own experience with them thus far.
