I ran the 1006 Vioz last year and will be doing so again this year. The 1006 is simply a shorter version of this boot, but I understand has the same foot profile. These boots are good for people with a wide forefoot. If you have a skinny forefoot, you'll slide a bit in these. Somewhat stiff, but they loosen up a bit over time and I found reasonably comfy to hike long distances in (10+ miles). They are warm though, so if your intent is an early season boot for archery or something, I would steer clear. If you're looking mid season and onward (think 40 F or below), then they shouldn't cause you any grief in the temp department.
So how do you find them. I have never bought from them and do not really see them. Is there something weird about camofire. Can you provide a link to the item? Am I missing something? Thx
I have the 1012 Vioz and so does my hunting partner. Best production boot I've ever owned by a wide margin. I wore them on a very hard caribou hunt in the mountains last year...I mean pounded them...and my feet were in great shape. I simply love this boot and would immediately replace them with the same boot if needed. If you buy them, I recommend you buy Hydro Bloc cream and spray from Zamberlan and use it. Absolutely superior stuff for superior boots.
My 1012's been awesome boots for the year I've owned them. They carried me on a 3 day Barbary sheep hunt where I packed full sheep off a mountain 5 miles with comfort. I also used them for a week on Kodiak and got to pack back a caribou and deer to camp over three trips. Then this last December I covered another 20-30 miles in southern NM trying to get my niece on a bull elk. A lot of other scouting and rambling around miles combined with the last years hunts in extremely different terrain have proved the 1012's to be great boots for my feet. I will however echo what was said above that these boots are warm and for me 50* is the upper comfort limit but the low end is below freezing if active. I hiked in them several days when noon highs got to about 70* and was a bit uncomfortable during the warmer period of the day but then felt great as the sun sank and temps dropped below 40.
They do seem to run about half a size over standard boot sizing and a full size or more larger then my L&S Tech lites.
The 1012's use a wider last than most of the other Zamberlan boots. Too wide for me...I like their backpacking last for resistance to lateral sliding in the boot.
