I‘m curious to know if anyone out there has used the Z5i enough to give an accurate report on its turret reliability?
I’m looking at the 3.5-15 or going with a NF. I’m confident that the NF is reliable, but not excited about the weight on my mountain rifle.
I was all set on a VX5, but still dont have 100% faith in their turret reliability

Reliability as in tracking and return to zero? Buy the NF. My Z5 drives me nuts with return to zero. If you plan on dialing the NF is a much better option.

Both.
I’m not a competition shooter, but I dont want to be wondering if the scope is correct when I’m on a hunt.

Recently I was in the same boat but with x5i vs NF. I went NF ATACR for what it's worth. Giving up some lowlight but tracking was what I wanted since I would be dialing alot.

My Swaro X5 tracks fine. I've read about and seen more than one Z5 that won't reliably track or return to zero. If you plan to dial go X5 or Nightforce. If set and forget the Z5 will work.

My Leupold VX5HD 3-15x44 reliably has tracked and returned to zero no issues. Glass is excellent and low light is superb. I got a show room demo for under $1000.
