I’m looking to buy a gently used backpack that would fit my 12 year old 5’2” tall son for a couple years before it is passed along to another young Hunter.

Mrchomps pack would be a good suggestion. I just bought my 10 yr old grandson a womens MR metcalf with the extra small belt and 14-16” frame, and I think it is going to be perfect for him.
