As I said earlier, personally I much prefer the aesthetic of euros. I’ve contemplated getting reproduction skulls for the shoulder mounted deer. They take up too much walll space. I’ve got a bunch of trophies in the garage simply because I don’t have the room for them in here.

I really like to poses on your bottom two buck, semi sneak correct? My eyes naturally gravitate to the euros though. All very nice bucks

Whatever you do, make sure you find a good taxidermist…
I use Zimmermans Wildlife studio in Martinsburg Pa and they are the best that I have seen. They run $950 for a deer shoulder mount.
Remember you will be looking at that deer for the rest of your life, so find a good taxidermist.
Once you find a good one, ask for a Mckenzie catalog and look at different forms to see what you like.

I am starting to really like the wall pedestal mount. I told my taxidermist to surprise me one year and he did the pedestal. Different pose than you normally see.

Mears forms are available through McKenzie and Mears. I've heard the McKenzie Mears are different compared to the Mears that come direct from Mears (hope that makes sense!). Do you have a preference for which Mears?

I'm pretty sure both of my "mear's" deer are semi sneak. One is turned to the left, the other to the right. One has ears forward, other has ears back. I'll try to snap some pics later today.

We have two bull elk and a deer shoulder mounted. Very well done but I honestly regret doing them. I love the look of euros and they take up less space. Also costs less. But my uncle has probably 50 or so shoulder mounts and wont do anything but. Really comes down to personal preference

These are the boys. I set them up in my office to represent the 3 species, but the one in the middle is very unique and very few people will ever see one, much less take one. I hunted him for 2 years with my bow and couldn't get it done. Drew a rifle tag and made it happen.
The two on the ends score nearly the same - the middle one cannot be officially scored - there is no scoring system that I am aware of.
muley/coues hybrids are a thing? Ive never heard of this.

I hunt a place in texas that has both whitetail and mulies, some of the mulies have whitetail racks, some of the whitetails have mulie racks. We suspect they are hybrids, but ive never heard of such a thing.

Super cool deer you have there.

I haven’t had one shoulder mounted since 2011.

Until this year. I’ve got two at the taxidermist that I’m waiting on.

Shot this one during black powder this year. Second biggest buck I have ever taken. Should get him back in the summer.

Shot this one in 2023. Most beautiful deer I’ve ever taken. I should be getting it back anytime. I really wanted to do a full body mount. But it was $5000. Couldn’t justify it. Doing a pedestal mount and getting the hide tanned.

Thanks everyone for sharing. So between price and more importantly, wall space, I decided to go with a euro mount (which I do prefer) so I dont believe I'll regret this decision.
$150 for euro compared to $1045 & $1050 for a wall pedestal at the two top taxidermist near me.
I hope this thread stays active because I enjoy seeing others trophies. Thanks again

I've been to Traditions several times but never knew about Zimmermans. I don't get out that way much but I'll have to keep it in mind.
La Fiesta Mexican restaurant is really good, they are in the airport right past Traditions. Have you ever been to Mamies in Martinsburg?
They have the best dessert.
