We were bringing him out in 1 trip. (Me and 2 buddies)
Dislocated patella, Detached ACL and inner and outer meniscus cut.

I had about 1 mile straight up the mountain to spike camp.
my buddies split my load. Made a crutch and hobbled along dragging my
left leg... Laid in camp for several days. Swelling went down and we hiked the 4.75 miles out...

Rodney are they twice as heavy when you can only use one leg? Sad thing is here the mature bulls are easier to find than spikes. I've have put plenty of work in on hunting them

Had to think hard about this one since I took my first elk about 25 years ago and if memory serves me right it was a tall spiker. Growing up my family hunted moose 90% of the the time so I was the first as a teenager to go after elk. Didn't really focus on hunting elk, took them when opportunity was there, until about 10 years ago and I have been hitting them hard every year with a bow since.
