I did a search and only found one thread with mention of the Oben tripods. Is that because they are junk? are the specs just way wrong? or has no one ever used them?
In my search for a reasonable but quality tripod I found the Oben tripod/ball head combos on B & H. They have a few models in 2.5-3.1# range that have a max of 58ish" and folds lengths from 15-21". Price ranges from $250-$350.
Here's a sample model that looks appealing http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1024998-REG/oben_ct_2331_3_section_carbon.html
There has been lots of mention about the Manfrotto ball heads so I played with one today at the camera shop. While there I looked at the MeFoto ball head which appears to be identical to the Oben ball head. One thing that I like about the Oben/MeFoto ball head is that there are 2 friction knobs, 1 for tilt and 1 for pan, so I think it will be nice that tilt can be locked down secure while pan can still move freely.
Anybody use Oben tripods or heads? Looking for opinions on these in hunting applications?
