After just three nights in my sawtooth I couldn't imagine going without a stove. A warm and dry tent is radically nicer than a cold damp tent. When I woke up cold on my first night I just cranked up the stove and fed it all night.
Just my opinion but I would just get the 16" as the burn time is short enough as it is and breaking down the fuel is a PIA. The sixteen inch will be easier to feed and burn longer. They are also finicky about fuel. They struggle to burn larger pieces of wood. They are loosing heat fast and if you try to put on a bigger piece it takes too much heat to get it burning and it kills the fire. The bigger fuel load of the sixteen will help with its larger fire. The 12" will need small fuel and constant feeding to keep it going long enough to dry everything out. Even with my box medium it better be roaring if I put bigger than 2" diameter wood on.

I just place the bigger sticks leaning on a rock or log and stomp them into pieces. Making sticks 16" is easier than 12". They are going to need to be dry and small anyways. No way you are going to burn large green wood well in one. Also , Arons advice on triox tads to start the fire is spot on. Makes it easy to get started.

A couple tips,, preheat your wood, it makes it light off quicker and not thermal shock the fire so much. Just make sure to watch it and and remove when they become (smokers) and don't allow them light off.

Another thing I learned this year,, this little sleeping pad inflator works amazing as a fire stoker. :)

A warm Tipi is a happy Tipi.

Next year I plan to carry mostly cotton balls as a fire starter. FYI, you can use Neosporin on the cotton balls too. This is a lighter, less bulky option for starting fires. However, I will probably carry one tab of Wetfire/trioxane just for those nasty conditions.

Also, Stid links the triox above at $6 a box where I got some the other day for like $2 at a surplus store. Just offering a reference.

A small chunk of old arrow shaft and some tubing makes a good lightweight stove bellow as well.

Yea, but that will not keep spit out of my sleeping pad. :) Water vapor from your breath really degrades how well a insulated sleeping pad works.

Sreekers yep thats what Im hoping for. Cant wait to get out and use it now. I plan to put it to good use during Turkey hunting also should be fun =-).

You should sew a stove jack into your double bull for those cold mornings waiting on the birds to show up.
