XTL Lid

so i am thinking about cutting off the compression straps on the lid, has any one done this?
what i am thinking is cutting it off leaving 1-2" of webbing and sewing it into a lash point, so it is like the standard lid.
I have already cut the fastex buckles off due to the use of k connectors on the highcamp.

bored today and over thinking things once again!!!

ok how about this what is the strongest way to sew a lash point with using the original factory sewn piece?

I wasn't an XTL lid fan... til last week. Just finished a wet 8 day backpack trip. The lid was my dryer. I'm keeping the straps. Function vs weight, the straps win. Ed F
