I’ve got one. As long as you watch the videos and make a good square layout when you stake the 4 corners (this is first step before you put in the trekking poles) it comes up great without issue. If one side is loose when you extend the poles, then normally then you can just re-stake one corner to fix it. I will say the tent has a pretty large footprint so it can be tough to find a spot to set it up sometimes, so look up the dimensions on the Durstan website to confirm you’re good with it.

Interesting. I've seen people say it's harder to get a good pitch than it should be with the x-mid.
Methinks same people are probably not good at pool (billiards) either. As long as it's a good square it should be easy.
I plan to bring my poles with me, the tent will stay guy’d down and when I get back to camp ill put the poles back
In a pinch one can probably cut some branches to sub the trekking poles out as well.

You could also take the 3.1oz hit and pack 1 zflick pole, the. You can bring 1 trekking pole with you. Or take another 3.1oz hit and have both poles.

This is what I’ve done in the past. Works great!

For tall guys, the XMid is tough to beat.

I’ve got no hands-on with it but all the videos on the interwebs I’ve seen it looks super simple. Maybe somebody who has/had it can chime in.
We had no problem pitching my friends’ xmid solid sheep hunting. It really wasn’t that bad.
