Xmid 1 or 2 mainly will be used for solo hunting

Let us know what you think of the room once you get a few nights in it. I bought the 1 and have only used it a few nights without the inner. It was plenty big for me and a pack.

Loved the Xmid-1 this past deer & elk season. Opposite vestibule was perfect for my rifle/K3 4800

Reviving this old thread for more opinions. OP, what are your thoughts with a couple years under your belt? Im considering both of these shelters but would prefer to go to the 1P if the room is adequate.

I have both now. Buy 1P if you want an easier time finding a spot to pitch and less footprint or buy 2P and get tons of space but have a more difficult time finding a flat spot to get a good pitch. I’ll be taking the 1P on my upcoming elk hunt as we’ll likely be moving camp often.

Footprint size is one of my main concerns, which is why I’m leaning 1P. I currently have a SO Silex and even in that I have a hard time finding somewhere to pitch at times. Would you say that the 2P is a little overkill space wise and the 1P is comfortable?

I’m going to use just the fly of the 1P and then go floorless with a bivy. Then there’s almost enough space for 2 people. It’s a little confined with the insert but I’ll take the easier setup time over extra comfort of the 2p. I’d still likely bring the 2p if I knew there were flatter spaces.

I own the 1P, never been in the 2P. I've been very happy with the 1P so far. With the two vestibules I can do gear on one side, egress and cooking on the other, I find it very comfortable. If it's not too buggy I'll leave both side mesh doors on the inner open to enable twisting & turning a little more freely. I wouldn't want the footprint to be any bigger certainly for ease of pitching.
