I bought a XLR Element 4.0 Magnesium but chose to hold off on the carbon buttstock. I believe the added weight of the aluminum vs carbon was too much for the ball detente and the thing would not stay folded up. If the rifle hit a bump it would unfold itself and the ball detent wasn't even strong enough to be able to keep it folded if I turned the rifle parallel to the ground. Pretty dissappointed, so I decided to take it apart and do something about it. I was gonna order a new spring with a stiffer spring rate but decide it would be much easier to print spacers instead. See the attached picture for what I made. One side sits in the spring andthe other captures the ball detent.Got them printed and it was kind of a pain to reinstall but once I got one installed on each side, it stiffened it up just enough to where it now wants to stay in that folded position but it still easy to fold in both directions. Overall, I am happy with the modifcations and can share the file if anybody else wants to print their own.
