X-bolt threading/adapters for suppressors

I’m on the hunt for my very first suppressor. So far, my success stats are much like they are when I hunt animals - way too low.

The issue: I have a Browning X-Bolt in 6.8 Western and the barrel is threaded at M13x .75…..which doesn’t fit any cans that I’ve found.

I have my eye on a number of cans that come standard with 5/8x24 and I’ve read a few varying opinions about using an adaptor effectively. I talked to one local shop and they recommended this adapter from Hughes Precision: https://hughesprecision.com/product...converter-browning-x-bolt-blued-steel-sku159/

So, my questions:

Has anyone else found themselves in the same predicament and what did you do?

Any feedback on using an adaptor like the one linked above? How effective is it? Why or why shouldn’t I use that?

Thanks in advance

The Hughes Precision adapter has worked just fine on my son’s X-bolt. Pretty sure it was the only one I could find at the time. Any time I need to use an adapter, I check for proper alignment with appropriate alignment rods, however.

I don't like adapters. Get a suppressor with an interchangeable hub mount and get a custom hub or Area 419 Hellfire system to set it up. That C&S is in Colorado Springs and just made me a custom for a goody m15x1 pattern for my new Tikka.

What is it that you don’t like about adaptors? Not trying to be snarky - I’m genuinely curious to better understand how the adaptor affects shooting

I've got an xbolt .30-'06 with that same thread pitch.
if you dont have the suppressor yet, I'd look for a suppressor that's hub compatible vs using an adapter. There's several direct thread mounts made for M13x.75 pitch out there. That would probably be your best bet over using an adapter.

Thanks for the tip! Which mount did you end up with for your .30-06?

Mainly I care about extra length and weight on the barrel. Other people don't like stacking tolerances. Probably never be an issue with good equipment but it certainly doesn't help.

I got the correct adapter for my x-bolt 6.8 W from SilencerCo. It works perfect.

Triple check the thread pitch before you order the adapter I generally looked up “browning xbolt thread pitch” on google and ordered m13x 1.25 it got here a couple days after the rifle which is an xbolt speed and the speed has a different m13x .75 and had to order the right one and return the other. I know it’s backwards of what you have already ordered but just know different models have different pitches.

That said I haven’t got to shoot it yet due to wind and weather but it seems like a nice high quality part and adds maybe 1/8” overall to the length because fits so well.

Good call out! I worried about getting this wrong so I emailed Browning with my gun’s serial number to verify the thread pitch. Mine does has the M13x.75

They changed the pitch sometime 2019-2020. I just called them and they were very helpful and provided the correct pitch. I've used adapters from Huges for over a decade, no issues on either 1/2-28- 5/8-24 or metric. Silencer central sells their own also. Bad part about ordering a suppressor with a metric hub that is not removeable ,is you are stuck with that metric pitch. If it is removable your golden.

Out of curiosity, what suppressors have you used with these adaptors from Hughes?
