Trying to find the differences between these two. What I can tell is Mountain Pro has a stainless barrel vs steel on Pro, and the obvious camo vs black. Is the fluting on the barrel different? Action? Threading for a suppressor? I called browning yesterday and was on hold for a bout 40 min before I had to jump off the call. No email I can see on their website either. If anyone knows let me know! I prefer a mountain pro in 6.8 Western..but I am worried I won't find one in time for this years hunts and I have located a Pro.

the thinner barrel models like the Speed have a metric thread, M13x.75. The long range models have standard 5/8x24.

I believe you are correct about the differences between the mountain Pro and the pro being the spiral flooding in the stainless barrel and receiver in addition to a different break.

I just had a really bad experience with a brand-new stainless stalker in 300 WSM. It would shoot in patterns instead of groups, between 2 and 4 inches for three shots. I’ve had many X-Bolts and have never experienced that degree of terrible accuracy from handloads and factory ammo. I believe I just got a lemon so I sold it and ordered a new one. Anyway, this can happen with any production rifle but I certainly would hope it would not happen with one as pricey as the pro or the Mountain pro.

Follow up to my last post. I ended up trading the stainless stalker 300 wsm on a new one and it shoots great. I guess it was a lemon after all!

Now to add a mountain pro in 6.8 western…
