Wyoming south draw predictions

I am a nonresident hunting a unit in the south general.

I have also only hunt elk for 2 years. So take this advice knowing that I really don't know anything...

Here is what I did and what I would recommend:
- Try for a cow/calf tag. Mine was cheaper and easier to get.
- Go hunt the unit for a year or two. Learn the unit and maybe kill a cow
- If you think you can find a bull based on your cow hunting experience, apply for a south general tag and join the masses...
The problem with that strategy is cow tags are also getting harder and harder to draw.

Cherish every elk tag you get.

That's been our thought process. Have you been successful yet?
To refresh, here was my suggestion...

That is exactly where I am at. I have got cow tags for the last 2 years. I went both years and learned a lot. I found some bulls and I think I have a chance this coming season.

So I applied for south general with 6 points and I should get the tag with that.
Now, I just have to put my plan together to actually get one of those bulls...

I'll let you know after the 2026 season if my plan was good idea or not...
