Hey Everyone, New here on here. I have been following Rockslide for sometime. However just joined to post. Here this year I have the chance to hunt with Double Diamond Outfitters In region G this year, I have not committed to anything yet. I currently have 9 deer points. I also have reached out to J&J outfitters. I am wondering if anyone has any experience in G in the past year or two. The hard winter was brutal and really affected us in Idaho as well. However we had great deer as far as mature bucks in SE Idaho and the mature age class seems to be doing well. Definitely a lack of smaller bucks. Tre Hiener seems like a great outfit to work with. I am not against waiting longer and building more points. However I am young and I know that I will have a chance to hunt Wyoming again one day. Maybe two more times.
I have hunted mule deer in Idaho my entire life. I am really set on shooting a 170 inch buck or better whenever I do burn my points. I am willing to eat my tag rather than shoot something below my goal.
Just seeking some input from others who have hunted since the hard winter. Is a 170 plus a good goal and achievable still? and does anyone have any guidance with what the best outfitter is?
