Never again.
Described one camp situation and after taking the money provided a totally different camp with additional hunters.

What is your expectation? A high scoring buck? A quality back country experience? Seeing lots of deer?

So many guys get hung up on hunting the west end of the state, but in reality any unit can and do produce quality bucks every year that take way less points to draw.

So many guys get hung up on hunting the west end of the state, but in reality any unit can and do produce quality bucks every year that take way less points to draw.

Not looking for the biggest deer. Looking for a decent deer, on a flatlander unit. with lots of deer. Trophy potential is not important to me.

Imo you’re going to need double those points to get an easier terrain “trophy” unit.

And since you’ve never hunted mule deer.

To me you ether need to go guided or not worry so much about trophy and just pick a unit you think is neat and lends to your strong suits and go have fun and take the first buck that’s interesting.

You have quite a few options. For a flatlander hunt you’ll need to identify the major mountain ranges in the state and then X out those units. Looking at the high sage hunts.

I have no affiliation with these guys. But from what I hear Fonzy is a stand up guy that runs a high quality operation.
