Buddy and I pulled tags in 96. Didn’t realize that almost half of that area has to be with a local guide or friend. Is it worth hunting the areas available there to us or try and get a guide? We are usually DIY and this will be our second elk season, but first time in Wyoming. Archery, any sex tags for both of us.

96 will be tough without a guide being a NR. It's not really only 50% wilderness because most of the elk will be in almost 100% wilderness, at least until late season "if" there is weather. It might be late in the season to find a guide in there. I only know of only one, but you may want to make contact soon. It really is not a unit to travel from out of state to unless you can hunt the wilderness.
