I drew North greybull River elk, and I'm taking off most of September to chase them with my bow. Problem is, I can't find llamas or horses to rent near Cody. Anyone have a connection? Everyone I know is on the east side of the state.

I suppose I could hunt the low country outside the wilderness, but I have no idea if it's any good. I'd rather be up high where I know bulls hang out.

This is the best elk tag I've ever had, I plan to soak in every minute.

I'd ask around and see if there isn't a rancher or ranchhand
in the area with horses you could make a deal with to pack
out your animal if successful.

Not aware of anyone in Cody but Mantle’s Wyoming Horses in Pavillion rents them, or at least did the last I knew.

Yellowstone Horse rentals has a pick up location in pavilion... they bought out mantle's rental side many years ago. Between star valley and there, they own over 2000 horses, and do nothing but rent. Chad Madsen runs it, I pick up extra horses from him every year for my fall season

Not sure on the laws in WY but in Idaho you don’t want to be paying someone to pack for you if they’re not the licensed outfitter in that area.
Found out firsthand they take that pretty seriously. Was a miscommunication and got it cleared up so didn’t get in any trouble.

I'm guessing you're planning on backpack hunting and then just renting to haul out game if successful?
That's how I'd do it.

As mentioned Yellowstone horse rentals. If you prefer LLamas there is a new operation here in Powell. If want info send me a PM and I will send you his info.
