WYO vs CO mule deer hunts

I don’t think you can compare broadly two states like this. I’ve had bullets whizzing over my head in Wyoming, and another hunt where we saw a single other hunter in 7 days. It’s going to depend on when and where you hunt, not the state. I’m sure even in G and H if you picked dates to avoid the crowds it would be fine.

CO pressure in the 0-3 point range is intense because you are coupled with a few hundred other mulie hunters and most of the time OTC elk hunters also.

No offense, but people that think WY, ID, or MT are crowded must be complaining about the units bordering the largest cities. CO gives out more tags than all those states combined, coupled with the short season causes everyone to be out at once. I'm not exaggerating when there are a dozen groups of guys all watching the same cut or drainage when the sun comes up opening morning.

I don't have a great deal of experience, but hunted CO two seasons (one early archery & one mid september muzzleloader), and WY one early september archery season in a general unit (draw for me as a non-resident). Never saw or heard another hunter in CO, but in WY there were a good number of people visible at almost all times. This is even during a down tag year because of the winter kill a couple years before. I'm glad I went to WY during the archery season, because I have heard horror story upon horror story of people on top of each other, in each others way, and basically combat hunting. I wouldn't even consider a WY rifle hunt in a general unit.

Early season has turned into combat hunting in Colo as well. This year in one basin I watched 9 archery hunters chase around a group of bucks in a area that 2 hunters would over pressure.. Rifle hunters move in 4 days later and a few days after that muzzy guys wonder where all the bucks are.....

Its getting worse everywhere I would assume but dont think unless you get very lucky that you will have a basin to yourself in Colorado anymore.. Just not realistic.

Add in unlimited otc elk hunters and yeah it is down right social in Co backcountry these days!

What do y'all think the equivalent is as far as quality hunt in WY vs. CO when looking at low point hunt?

Example - eastern half of WY general deer unit that takes non-resident regular draw 2-3 points is equal to 2 or 3 point 2nd or 3rd rifle deer hunt in CO? or 0-1 point 2nd or 3rd season in Colorado?
