Does anyone know the functional difference between the Wyatt’s 300prc mag box and the MBE-3? Rifle is a 7prc. Both are stagger fed magnum boxes with 3.825” length. The prc box has a cut out in it for some reason.

Both have cutouts for case shoulders. The PRC moves the cutout back towards the base because of the slightly shorter base to shoulder dimension of the PRC compared to some earlier magnums. The 3 also has bulges at the back for cases larger in diameter than the belted cases.

Thanks for the reply. Do you think the mbe-3 would feed 7prc alright?

I don’t know. I’ve never tried that case in the 3. The 3 is really for large diameter and longer cases. The 7 is short so I think you would be better off with a standard box. Do you even need an extended box for the 7? The 7 case is something like .300” shorter than the 300? Have you talked to Wyatts? I’d call and ask what they think.

I’ve tried calling a few times but haven’t got ahold of anyone yet. I also have a 338 edge barrel for the action. Ideally I’d like to be able to just leave one mag box in there for both calibers if possible. Right now I have a cfe-9 box in there for the edge, but my coal ended up being less than 3.825” where the edge liked to shoot. The cfe-9 does feed the 7prc, it’s just difficult to position them correctly to get them to feed since it’s a 4.0 box and you have to load them from the floor plate. My 7prc hand loads are a bit over 3.4” so technically I think a factory length Wyatt’s box would work if it comes to that.
