WY unit 100 roads

Hi Guys.

I'm wondering how to roads are in unit 100? I know 2 tracks are all over the unit. Just wondering if an ATV is recommended, or if a stock 1/2 ton pickup will do? I will be in the unit the middle of Oct. Thanks

Congrats on a great tag.

If it's dry, A 1/2 ton pickup will be fine. If it's wet, a Sherman tank may not be enough. All kidding aside, those roads can get really, really bad when they are wet.

Thanks for the quick reply. It's my wife's type 4 tag, she's never been on an elk hunt before. I put her in because I knew we'd see some elk. Should be a fun time.

All depends on how rough you want to be on your truck. Many of the trails you can do fine on with a truck, but they get rough, and the sage will be buffing the sides. In that unit, I enjoy an ATV better than beating my truck, and you can cover ground quicker.

I always take mine unless I can't have one in my possession on an HMA.

Like said, those roads get crazy greasy real fast, I forget what the stuffs called.

Bentonite perhaps, think drilling mud.

There a lot of decently maintained oil/gas field roads in 100. However any moisture, good mud tires or your atv is beneficial. Stay on the roads, if wet that mud can get a sherman tank stuck.
