Pretty sure Y can be drawn with 0 points. Not sure if you can draw this as a second choice or not. I don't think I would want to burn 2 points to draw a Y tag.
I think H has lots of grizzlies and wilderness from what I have read.

Good Luck

Me and my brother drew Y this past season with 0 points. Neither one of us shot anything. We could have shot 300 does, but no bucks. Hell at one point we could have just strangled one doe with our bare hands we were that close. It was our first time Muley hunting and we were somewhat intimidated by the number of other hunters. We would find an access spot for BLM on the map, go there and find 3 trucks parked there. Being from Ky, we still aren't used to western hunting. Here in Ky, if I show up at a trailhead and there's a truck parked there. I'm not walking in, because I don't want to mess their hunt up, or get shot walking in. Either way Region Y can be had for 0 points. And I could be wrong, but isn't it an OTC area for residents. And non residents can't hunt wilderness areas without a guide, or resident hunter.

I hunted Y this October. It was hard to get away from the crowd. Lots of does with very few bucks in the area. Most of the hunters seemed to be after any buck they could find. Seen a bunch of yearling and 2-1/2 year old bucks people had shot. The one I shot was the only deer I saw that was older than 2-1/2 during the 2 weeks I was there.

Wow, congratulations on a beautiful animal. If you don't mind, what area of Region Y did you shoot him in?

I hunted all over the region. Most areas near the roads was a waste of time with the amount of pressure. Every time I tried to out hike the other hunters there were horse camps in the area I was trying to hunt. I found deer almost everywhere I went. That buck was in some of the roughest terrain I could find in the region. One of very few places I didn't run into other hunters. Hunters were not that far away but they stayed out of the really rough stuff. Up pretty high on some very steep terrain where the guys with horses wouldn't be able to get to and most people on foot wouldn't be willing to walk. I shot him at 841 yards and don't think I would have been able to get any closer. Took 2 days for me to get that shot. There was no way to get above him and he would have seen anyone coming below. I set up on him in the dark the second morning and hoped he would come out in the same area. He was further away than he had been the day before but I was able to place the shot. Took several hours to get to him after the shot. I had a lot of fun hunting in Y but I think my hunting partner is convinced I was trying to kill him and probably will think twice before agreeing to go on another hunt.
