A friend is getting in to clays and would like an OU

He was looking at a great deal on a Silver Pigeon but it sold. I'm a SXS guy but he's set on an OU.

Just trying to give him options before he buys new. Anything from a CZ to...something much pricier lol. Let me know what you have and I'll forward it to him. Thanks.

I have a Citori White -lightning
Low round count, walnut, 20 ga 28”
Probably have a set of factory chokes

It’s a great gun, and has been slicked up by a gunsmith recently.
It just doesn’t shoot where I look like my other lightning.

The price will be $1950 plus shipping.
FYI, this isn’t negotiable, it’s just lonely because it gets left in the corner of the safe.

If you are looking to have fun, break some birds and enjoy the day, Something with a set of 30" tubes will work well.

If he wants to get serious, trap vs skeet vs sporting are totally different animals and better served by a more specific setup

He really needs to think about budget, then go from there. A good starting point for a clays O/U is between 2-3K. The sky is the limit. And yes, you definitely get something for your dollar when you move to the upper tier clays guns.

A few brands that I would suggest looking at, in ascending order price wise:

Beretta 686/687 series
Guerini
Kemen
Krieghoff/Perazzi

I spend a lot of time shooting sporting and coach quite a bit. I have seen a lot of gun purchases go the wrong way. Mfg and retailers want you to pick it up, fall in love, and head to the checkout line. Nothing necessarily wrong with that, but shiny doesnt mean well built. A good portion of the extra $$$ on the mid and upper guns are due to the fact that you will never wear one out.

Figure out which of your grandkids should inherit it :)

For a dedicated target gun, the new beretta 688 is sweet, I’ve seen them used for sub 3k. Almost as nice as my 694.

If he’s serious about skeet and sporting clays, I have an older Browning Citori with a full briley tube set… 410, 28 and 20 ga tubes. It’s been forever since I shot registered skeet, so it just sits.
